(b. 1976, New York) is a filmmaker who shoots, edits, and finishes on 16mm film.\u00a0Meyers chooses to work with \u201csmall gauge\u201d 16mm film because it offers an intimate means of exploration and the opportunity for direct connection with light, which is in many ways at the core of her work. Her exploration of the resolution, contrast, and texture of light, together with her keen eye for the appearance of nature in our lives, lend nuance and intensity to her short films.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EMeyers pays close attention to experiences of the natural world that are common in contemporary society but that often go unnoticed, such as the domestic and \u201cwild\u201d animals in our midst, as well as to natural elements pictured in wallpaper, murals, car logos, and city statues. Her distinctive sound tracks further suggest a broad definition of \u201cenvironment\u201d while underscoring the multi-faceted aspects of looking, watching, and seeing found in her films.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EHer films have screened internationally at festivals and in curated exhibitions such as Media City, Windsor, ON, Canada, and Detroit, MI; Images Festival, Toronto, Canada; New York Film Festival\u2019s Views from the Avant-Garde, New York, NY; Festival Les Inattendus, Lyon, France; the London International Film Festival, London, England; \u201cBringing to Light\u201d at the San Francisco Cinematheque, San Francisco, CA; and \u201cWhite Shadows: Stories and Polar Visions\u201d at the Galleria Civica di Arte Contemporanea, Turin, Italy. For three years she served as Co-Programmer of Chicago\u2019s Onion City Experimental Film and Video Festival and has curated film programs for the Chicago Underground Film Festival, the Massachusetts College of Art Film Society, Brooklyn\u2019s Light Industry and the Harvard Film Archive, where she acted as Archive Coordinator.\u00a0\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EMeyers received a BA from Cornell University in 1997 and an MFA in Film and Video Production from the University of Iowa in 2001.
