  • Desireena Almoradie and Barbara Malaran win Fifth Annual Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant

    Queer|Art is excited to announce the winners of the 2021 Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant, collaborative duo, Desireena Almoradie and Barbara Malaran. The New York-based filmmakers will receive a $7,000 cash grant, as well as studio visits with members of the judging panel in support of their creative and professional development.

    En el marco del programa «Cines en el borde» de la Corporación Chilena de Video, orientado al fortalecimiento de obras audiovisuales en desarrollo, la directora chilena Camila José Donoso realizará una clase magistral titulada "Transficciones por una metodología transfeminista en el cine".

    En este espacio, la realizadora abordará el concepto de lo transficticio, una metodología que cuestiona la ética que domina el cine, replanteando las narrativas y las formas de contar desde un prisma feminista. La sesión se llevará a cabo el miércoles 19 de enero a las 19 horas de Chile.

  • Submissions for "Accessible Cinema"

    Closed Captions (CC) provides on-screen text descriptions of dialogue and sound design for non-auditory viewers, while Audio Description (AD) enables blind and low-vision moviegoers to hear descriptions of film images and actions. In Emerson College's "Accessible Cinema" course, students will create CC and AD for short films by established filmmakers.
