FALL 2020 FILM, VIDEO and INTERACTIVE ART WORKSHOPS

As we continue to work through these difficult and unpredictable times, we will be hosting our workshops differently, pivoting to an on-line delivery (Zoom) for our theory based workshops, with the same roster of experienced industry instructors. We are pleased to still be able to offer these workshops for our members and the film community as a whole. There are a number of workshops we feel would be of intererst to the Experimental Cinema community. Learn more at LIFT.ca

  • Recycled Cinema

    By on

There is a peculiar correlation between so-called found footage filmmaking, founded on the reuse of pre-existing film footage, and the idea of "preserving" film heritage that drives the work of film museums and film archives. Unlike other forms of filmmaking which sprang to life "on their own" and were then preserved by film archives, found footage as a filmmaking tradition appeared only after film archives had gathered enough material to make artists curious about it.
