Experiments in Cinema is an annual international festival celebrating current trends and history of international cinematic experimentation. Experiments in Cinema is a non-competitive festival produced by Basement Films and based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This year we celebrate our 17th festival and our 3rd virtual festival.  We are thrilled to share the festival in full and free of charge to everyone in the international community in this virtual format, and we look forward to welcoming you all back to the meat space of the Guild Cinema in Albuquerque in 2023.

The 68th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is opening its first hybrid edition on Saturday, 30 April 2022. In the first part, the Festival is showing the International and German Online Competitions exclusively on the Internet, followed by the official opening ceremony in the Oberhausen cinemas on 4 May. This marks the Festival’s return to the cinema after two online editions due to COVID. For the first time since 2019, Daniel Schranz, Lord Mayor of the City of Oberhausen, will officially welcome the guests in Oberhausen on behalf of the city.

The first edition of transfigured boundaries, an anti-genre film program, will commence from 29th April 2022 to 8th May 2022, with in-person screenings at the Cineteca Nacional de Mexico.
