    Initiated by members of Knowledge Is A Does (KIAD) and with special contributions by Rory Pilgrim, Brendan Curtis and Sarah Browne, we present a selection of videos, performance- and sound based works. Disassemblies 9, a reading group and evening programme, explores Vanessa Agard-Jones’ theory on bodies in systems, which she defines as a movement directing us from the innards of embodiment to the space of global capital.

  • Imaging the Avant-Garde: Taiwan's Experimental Films of the 1960s

    Tonight’s program derives from a five-part series curated by Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TIDF), with support from the Taiwan Film Institute. In 2016, curators at TIDF conducted an exhaustive search for Taiwan’s experimental films of the 1960s, unearthing a striking body of largely forgotten works.

  • Atrabilious Experimental Filmfest #5

    Atrabilious Experimental Filmfest (5th ed.) will take place again at Filmhuis Cavia, Amsterdam!

    Atrabilious has in a short time, managed to establish as an vanguard of new and established experimental filmmakers and video artists. Atrabilious is a showcase festival with more than 21 artist and 70 films over an duration of two days. For the 5th edition, the focus will be ‘living in time in turmoil’, the program is curated by artist Ronald Bijleveld.

  • DIM Cinema: Automated Camera Motion

    Vancouver artist Judy Radul presents Michael Snow’s Standard Time (1967) and La région centrale (1971), along with a recorded discussion between her and Snow, as part of the launch of the new location of Catriona Jeffries Gallery. Its inaugural exhibition on Cordova Street is structured as an Unexplained Parade, with each gallery artist inviting a companion artist to exhibit work. Radul’s invitation was to Snow, who has worked for decades at the leading edge of experimental film and visual art.

    In 1967, Larry Gottheim started the Cinema Department at Binghamton University which was the first regular undergraduate program that dealt with cinema as a personal art. Considering the theme of nature in art and functions of racial, cultural and personal identity, Gottheim’s practice explores the ways in which time, movement, and becoming are bound up in a complex relation between formal cinematic patterns and pro-filmic subjects.

Their work is characterized by both radical form work and a direct response to the political turbulence, the violence and the corruption that is a highly tangible reality in Mexican society. Mass disappearances, political and military corruption and feminine cleansing - femicide - are some subjects that the collective stays with.
