  • Xcèntric: Journeys and Songs

    By on

The filmed letter can take the form of dedication, song, offering, celebration, postcard. “Correspondences: Films as Letters”, Punto de Vista’s cycle for 2018, takes as its starting point the idea that, in cinema, an exchange of letters does not have to be sent, and even admits the possibility of making a film letter without a recipient in mind.

Born in Tokyo Sylvia Schedelbauer first moved to Berlin in 1993, where she has been based since. She studied at the University of Arts Berlin (with Katharina Sieverding). Her films negotiate the space between broader historical narratives and personal, psychological realms mainly through poetic manipulations of found and archival footage.

"Schedelbauer’s films reveal the world in a perpetually unsettled state of flux and traverses into liminal zones where time and space collapse." (James Hansen, Women to Watch, Cleo - Journal of Film and Feminism)

  • DYSPLA International Moving Image Festival

    By on

DYSPLA International Moving Image Festival is the world’s first festival dedicated to screening the visual innovation of dyslexic and neurodiverse story makers, showcasing a collection of moving images dedicated to exploring dyslexic narratives.

Dyslexic and Neurodivergent storymakers have a strong heritage in narrative and non linear art history. Agatha Christie, Pablo Picasso, WB Yeats, Stan Brakhage, Steve Mcqueen, Quentin Tarantino, and Steven Spielberg, are just a few storymakers on an endless list, that share dyslexia as their commonality, and as their genius.

The UK’s education system has belittled and undervalued the neurodivergent community for centuries. Cuts to education in the arts, craft and music, lead by the worship of academia and the mythical neurotypical are destroying our young storymakers.
