Istanbul Experimental invites filmmakers and moving-image artists to submit their work for its 8th edition, taking place in Istanbul from May 28 to June 3, 2027.

Founded in 2018, Istanbul Experimental is Türkiye's first international film festival dedicated exclusively to experimental cinema. The festival approaches experimental cinema not as a fixed genre, but as an evolving field of artistic practice, thought, and engagement with the moving image.

We welcome experimental films and moving-image works across a wide range of forms, approaches, and production methods, including experimental documentary, essay film, found footage, analog and photochemical practices, experimental animation, structural film, expanded cinema, and hybrid forms.
