We look forward to receiving your entries for EMAF 2027!

Starting now, recent works for the sections Film, Installation and Expanded can be entered via our online platform for EMAF 2027.

Please note the following change:

The call for entries will close as soon as 2,200 entries have been received, or the latest on 15 December 2026.

This is in response to the significant increase in entries in recent years. We are very pleased by this growing interest in the festival. However, it is also important to us that we are able to devote the necessary time and attention to all works and projects entered during the viewing process. For this reason, we have decided to limit the number of entries.

Entries will continue to be free of charge.

Below is a brief overview of the sections:

FILM Experimental films of any length and on any subject From these, we will select entries for the International Selection (short and medium-length films) and the Features section. Films must have been completed no earlier than 2026. There is no requirement for a premiere.

INSTALLATION Installative, interactive, site-specific, or sculptural media artworks Contributions to the exhibition will be selected from these entries. They must have been completed no earlier than 2026 and must relate to the theme of the 2027 festival. The focus is on the archive as an instrument of knowledge production, a site of critical intervention, and a space for alternative visions of the future.

EXPANDED Performances, live events, or workshops Entries in this category will be considered for inclusion in either the performance programme or the talks & workshops programme, depending on their concept and thematic focus.
