Mire’s unmissable annual event PRISME highlights an inventive and engaged contemporary analog cinema interacting with other practices such as photographic, visual, sonic & performative arts.
PRISME #8 – Argentique du futur is on its way!
The next edition of Mire’s annual festival, which aims to highlight inventive and engaging contemporary analog film, will this time take place as winter nears its end, upon light’s return : from Thursday, February 26 to Sunday, March 1, 2026.
To fuel the programming of this 8th edition, we are looking for:
- recent works shot on film (2023 and later)
- expanded cinema performances
- installations
DEADLINE: Wednesday, October 1st, 2025!
CONDITIONS
Following the 100% cut of our subsidy from the Pays de la Loire region, coupled with a 50% funding cut from the Loire-Atlantique department this year, the festival has lost more than half of its budget.
We are committed, both culturally and politically, to maintaining this 8th edition of Prisme. As in previous editions, we will prioritize the quality of our programming. However, the program will be less dense, as we have chosen to maintain the level of remuneration per work, which means that the work of a smaller number of filmmakers will benefit from visibility and remuneration. In addition, this year, the festival’s team will be entirely volunteer-based.
The call for films is open to all works made on film (35mm, 16mm, Super 8, found footage).
Films must be recent (made from 2023 onwards).
Possible screening formats: 35mm, 16mm, Super 8, digital. Preference will be given to film copies.
A maximum of three films per director will be accepted.
Regarding performances, for practical reasons, please send your proposals as soon as possible!
No registration fee, no competition. For selected films, Mire will cover the cost of shipping film copies and will pay screening fees (€5 per minute/minimum €30 for films under 6 minutes; for films over 30 minutes, a rate per 30-minute increment will be applied, with a maximum of €200 per film). Mire offers an invitation to the festival for filmmakers whose films are selected, but cannot cover travel or accommodation costs. However, for artists whose performances are selected, homestay accommodation, travel expenses, and remuneration will be offered.
