Each year Experiments in Cinema brings the international community of cinematic un-dependents to Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA for a film festival that is designed to inspire a new generation of homegrown media activists to participate in shaping future trends of cultural representation.

Basement Films’ annual international film festival is proud to announce our call for submissions for our next edition of Experiments in Cinema v19.8 (April 23-27, 2024 with an additional online version May 4-18. 2024). EIC will take place at the Guild Cinema in Albuquerque, New Mexico and will consist of film screenings, lectures, live cinema events as well as workshops.

    Experiments in Cinema is an annual international festival celebrating current trends and history of international cinematic experimentation. Experiments in Cinema is a non-competitive festival produced by Basement Films and based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.     We are interested in cinema that "steps on toes", questions authority, complicates traditions, experiments with form and content, and provides us with a view into the world that we have never seen before—challenge us (if you dare)!
