The Rotoprojector #2 installation will be also on display during Saturday and Sunday, 11:00-18:00.
Hrvoje Spudić is a Croatian artist who specialises in the technological exploration of light and sound, with a strong emphasis on the do-it-yourself (DIY) approach. His work incorporates modern electronics, 3D printing and traditional devices such as 16 mm projectors and cameras. One of his works is the ‘Rotoprojector’, a device that adds an extra spatial dimension to images via the rotation of the projection device. Spudić describes it as follows: ‘The Rotoprojector is a research project that deals with the transformation of a film projection into physical space, using mechanical means and physiological phenomena of afterimages and persistence of vision.’ Besides the 'Rotoprojector', Hrvoje will present a sound performance that is based on DIY optical sound reproduction working with analogue film.
Spudić graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in 2015 and now lives and works in Zagreb, where he leads workshops on photography and design. He is also co-founder of ‘This Town Needs Posters,’ a collective dedicated to DIY poster printing for the alternative music scene, as well as an active member of the Klubvizija Artist Run Film Lab and an associate of the 25fps film festival.
Spudić will also offer a workshop on sound created by light and 16mm optical sound printing. Find more details on www.filmauffilm.de.
FILM AUF FILM, a quarterly event series organised by the Artist Run Film Lab by the same name, is made possible thanks to funding from the Stiftung Kulturwerk der VG Bild Kunst, the Kulturamt der Stadt Köln and the Ministry of Culture and Science (MKW) of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
