Lothringen and KU Cinema present Regarder la mer, c'est regarder le tout (To look at the sea is to look at the whole)
Lothringen, a Seoul-based film collective, and KU Cinema are pleased to present Regarder la mer, c’est regarder le tout, a curated program showcasing the work of Marguerite Duras and Peter Hutton.
This program marks the Korean premiere of Peter Hutton's two films in 16mm and the first Korean screenings of Duras's films since their 2024 restorations. Notably, the first segment of Peter Hutton's At Sea, which was shot in South Korea two decades ago, will be screened in the country for the very first time, twenty years after it was filmed.
A Filmmakers Forum: On Making Experimental Films in South Korea will follow the screening of At Sea, featuring three artists actively working with analog film in Korea today. The forum will consider how experimental film is made in the present moment, the role of local film labs, and the historical and artistic significance of working with photochemical media.
