The Sound Sound Experimental Film Fest is an accessible channel for experimental filmmaking from local artists in the Pacific Northwest. Our intention is to harbor a community for the exploration and development of the creative potentialities of the growing medium. We celebrate independent work which may otherwise get pushed to the fringe due to identity, insufficient resources, or qualifications of practice or technique.
This year, SSEFF is proud to host the first-ever public screening of VHS films by Sun City Girls, alongside a curated selection of collage-animated and stop-motion works by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Martha Colburn, presented across both nights of the festival. Each evening will also feature a lineup of local and international short films that reflect the boundary-breaking spirit of experimental cinema.
November 22 & 23, 2025, at the Northwest Film Forum (Seattle).
Saturday Program
Sun City Girls on VHS – Cloaven Theater

Among the featured works is a rare Sun City Girls mind-control experiment, shot and edited in the cable public-access studios of Viacom in Seattle after TCI shuttered their operations. Intended for broadcast, the film never aired due to a botched dub by the station technician—and was ultimately released only on VHS. Its screening at SSEFF marks a long-overdue debut.
