Weekend Domain Experimental Image Festival is now calling for entries to the competitions of its 2026 edition. 

After the amazing screenings and warmed support from filmmakers, artists and audiences last year, Weekend Domain is now back with its new composition：Inspired by a series of passings, endings, conflicts, and destructions around us, we have decided to reconstruct the festival, and set the theme of this year festival as "【0 → C̷̠͙̺̮͔͂͛̽͌H̶̛̜͖̉̚À̸̭̩͕̱̫̘̓̋̓͜ͅO̸̹͖̿̽̓̍͊̚S̶͈̳̹̠͐̈͑ → 0】". We are seeking experimental works that interact with the surrounding chaos directly, exploring new audiovisual methods and attitudes within the disorder, and generating new forms of creativeness and hope.

This time, our festival is calling new submissions for International Competition for the first time, and the original Sinophone Competition (Former name: Chinese Competition). We welcome filmmakers and artist from the worldwide to submit your works and join our festival this year. As the festival growing, We hope Weekend Domain can be a domain that keep resonating with surrounded world in more intense and unpredictable ways.

We accept films that completed after January 1, 2024, with a running time of under 60 minutes (including full intro and closing credits). No premiere requirement. For the detailed guidelines, please check our submission link.

About Weekend Domain

"Weekend Domain" is a newly founded experimental image festival, officially launched in February, 2025, at Guangzhou, China. Our original intention is to create a welcoming, inclusive gathering that embraces undiscovered, provocative, innovative, and even radical moving image artworks. Much like recommending films to close friends, we aim to present the works we admire to the local audience over the course of a three-day weekend. We envision the “weekend” as a space for cinematic conversation—one that fosters collisions between diverse forms of experimental image-making, while encouraging new possibilities of exchange between image and viewers, and among creators themselves.

We are particularly attentive to emerging genres of experimental image that explore the expanded possibilities of the moving image, including Hybrid documentaries, Docufiction, Essay film, Experimental film, and Video art. Diversity of vision, along with a reflective and critical approach to the essence of the moving image, are central to our curatorial perspective.

Through the platform of "Weekend Domain", we hope to discover and support filmmakers who courageously venture beyond the conventional systems of film production in pursuit of personal expression or expanded innovation. It is our hope that "Weekend Domain" will become a sustainable and evolving project—one that continues to closely engage with the shifting landscape of experimental cinema.
