Putting together a reading/short film program for my friend River Selby and their forthcoming memoir: Hotshot: A Life on Fire.
George Saunders describes the book “A beautiful reflection on justice, the environment, the self, and much more.”
I’m looking for short films/videos/animations that will compliment the themes within the book, Primarily around "Fire" and "Burning" but also intersecting with:Body - Queer/Non-binary Experience - Conflict - Family - Relationships - Ecology/Environmentalism - First Nations - Rebirth
Submission Deadline: Saturday, July 19th
Screening: Thursday, Aug 21st, @Millennium Film Workshop in Bushwick, NY
Reading/Screening/Q&A after with writer and filmmakers
About the programmer - Kati Rehbeck: My tastes are very diverse. I’m most drawn to works that are experimental in some dimension -- formal/material exploration, unexpected themes together, conceptually playful or bold.
I think weird is good, and I also think simple is good.
I love to learn and laugh and cry. Old and new works welcome!
Duration under 20 minutes recommended, will likely not accept much over 30 minutes, but for the right films I’m flexible!
$5 suggested submission donation
**All submission donations will be split between the exhibiting Filmmakers and Writer, River Selby
