OPEN CALL: Meshwork — Pittsburgh Visual Music Festival
February 25–28, 2027 | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Meshwork: Pittsburgh Visual Music Festival invites submissions of experimental film, animation, visual music, and expanded audiovisual work for its inaugural edition, taking place February 25–28, 2027, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dedicated to visual music as an evolving field of artistic practice, Meshwork explores the relationships between sound, image, movement, perception, and technology. Drawing on histories of experimental cinema, Expanded Cinema, intermedia arts, and experimental animation, the festival welcomes works that challenge conventional boundaries between cinema, music, performance, installation, and computation.
We welcome submissions in two primary categories:
Screenings — Experimental and abstract film, video, animation, digital moving image, audiovisual compositions, algorithmic works, and other screen-based practices.
Expanded Media — Expanded cinema, live audiovisual performance, multi-screen and multi-projector works, installation-based moving image, performative cinema, projection environments, and spatial or interdisciplinary audiovisual practices.
Works should generally have been completed within the past five years. Previously screened or exhibited works are welcome; premiere status is not required. There is no strict duration limit.
Through the end of October, 50% discounted entry fees available using code: EXP27.
