Short Circuit's themed screenings continue into 2026 with an invite for filmmakers to share their films for our April programme VILLAGE PEOPLE

What is a village?  Whether urban or rural, ancient or evolving, villages and villagers are diverse and resilient with their own identities, conflicts and celebrations. What communities do we picture and what voices do we hear when we talk of ‘Village People’. As ever we look forward to seeing your submissions, interpretations of the theme - and visiting your villages.

Short Circuit screen thought-provoking short films that have their roots in documentary. Now well established we continue to showcase emerging, established and award-winning filmmakers. Our eclectic programmes embrace experimental, collage and animated films alongside more formal documentary approaches.

Festival/series profile

  • Short Circuit

    SHORT CIRCUIT is a new film night screening short experimental documentaries selected from an open call. Short Circuit shows films with an unconventional approach, works that are distinctly artist film, yet have their roots in fact or documentary.

    The screenings will be on the last Thursday of the month at Presuming Ed, Brighton.
