    • 16mm or Super 8 Film under 22min
    • MUST provide a 16mm or Super 8 film print for screening.
    • Official Release date after December 1, 2008.

    The Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers is pleased to present the annual $100 Film
    Festival
    from March 3-5, 2011.  The festival celebrates independent filmmaking and brings
    the experience of projected film to our audiences by only screening Super 8mm and 16mm
    film prints.  The festival showcases all genres, so send us your experimental works,
    animations, dramas, comedies, student films or unclassifiable masterpieces!

    The $100 Film Festival does not charge any entrance fees and pays artist fees for all
    films selected for the festival. The selected films will also be eligible for festival

  • Toma Única 2010

    This year Toma Única Festival has two competitive sections: the now classic “Toma Única” and the new “Short Films Super 8 and 16 mm creation”, "whose main difference is that these films may be edited, post producted and with soundtrack.

    You can participate in one of these two sections, or both.

    “Toma Única” section:

    Original works will be shown in Super 8 camera mounted, submitted to the competition and screened to the public for the first time the day of the Festival.

    To participate you only have to shoot a film using a single Super 8 reel (about three minutes long), and send it, undeveloped, to the “Toma Única” organization.

    All the films submitted will be screened for the first time ever -as a premiere- during the celebration of the Festival. The directors see the film for the first time at the same time as the audience, who will vote for their favourite film and soundtrack… yes, as the Super 8 is silent, you can add sound to the movie at the time of the live showing: with a CD, live dubbing actors, musicians, or whatever you want…

    In this section will be shown short films made in Super 8 and 16mm support, in which it can be deduced a creative proposal regardless of its genre. Considering this as a search of new forms of audiovisual language and communication with the public. A jury will select the best works and will distribute at their discretion a total of € 2,000 in cash prizes.

    documentary.

    The festival is a non-profit event. There is no entry fee.

    It will be shown in the “Stadtkino Grein”, Austria, in March 2011. The final program will be decided in February 2011.

    danubeVIDEOARTfestival is organized by two visual artists: Roland Wegerer and Anna Maria Brandstätter.

    • For Uruguayan and foreign filmmakers.
    • No limit in the number of works.
    • Only works finished on and after January 2007.
    • You must include:

    a. Film in DVD format (2 copies). Each copy must be properly labelled with the work's title, director's name and length.

    b. A Word file (.rtf) including synopsis and technical data for the film.

    c. Deadline: September 15th 2010

    • A selection commitee will make a preselection of the shrtlisted works to be sent to the Official Jury, who will watch the films before the Exhibition.
    • The commitee will alo select films out of competition to be shown in the Exhibition.
    • Winner works will be part of the 2011 edition of Rompan límites in the section “Lo mejor de Rompan Límites 2010” and of Semana de Cine experimental de Madrid 2011.
    • Copies must be retrieved aweek after the exhibition at the Casa de la Cultura, Román Guerra esquina Sarandí.

  • Experiments in Cinema v6.3

    Experiments in Cinema V6.3 (a Basement Films production in collaboration with UNM's Department of Cinematic Arts) is currently seeking submissions for our 6th annual celebration of international, cinematic experimentation.

    This year's festival will take place in Albuquerque April 13-17, 2011. We encourage all moving image artists creating unembedded, undependent, underground, experimental, personal, and wildly imaginative media to submit to our festival (postmark deadline for submissions is December 1, 2010) though if materials are dated a day or two later we will happily accept your work for consideration!!).

    Submission Requirements
    Please include all of the following in your submission:

    1. Clearly label all media submitted (DVD, mini-DV, Quicktime File, CD) with:
      • PAL or NTSC
      • Title
      • Artist name and email address
    2. If your work is in a language other than English, please provide an English translation if the work.
    3. A CD (clearly labeled with the title of your entry, your name, your email address) containing the following information:
      • one 300 dpi still from your submission
      • 50 word synopsis of the submission
      • 75 word artist bio (include previous screenings of your entry if applicable)
      • one 300 dpi image of the artist (optional)
      • English translation/script (if work is in a language other than English)
    4. $15 entry fee ($10 per entry / per work if 3 or more are submitted). Please make checks or money orders payable in U.S. funds to BASEMENT FILMS. We are now also accepting submission fees via Paypal (www.paypal.com). When sending a submission via Paypal send to the festival email address/Paypal account: bkonefsky@gmail.com. Also note that artists submitting from outside the United States and artists whose work we have screened in this festival in previous years are NOT required to pay any entry fee.
    5. All submitted materials must be clearly labeled with your name, title, and email address.
    6. If your work is an international submission, write "For Cultural Purposes Only - No Commercial Value" on the envelope.
