Re:Frame 2026 Open Call
Berlin | Short Films & Expanded Moving Image

Re:Frame is a new curatorial platform by CiLENS dedicated to East and Southeast Asian and diasporic moving image.

Emerging from four years of CiLENS and Indie Chinese Cinema Week, Re:Frame does not mark a break, but a shift: from Sinophone cinema outward, toward the broader field of East and Southeast Asian moving image and its diasporas. It does not aim to represent Asia as a unified field, but to engage with it as a space of differences, frictions, and partial connections.

Selected works will be presented in Berlin in Autumn 2026 through curated screening programmes, expanded formats, and public discussions.

Submission Categories
Re:Frame accepts submissions in two main categories:

1. Short Films
Fiction, documentary, and animation

2. Expanded Moving Image
Experimental film, video art, hybrid works, and performance-based moving image practices

Works that move between or across these categories are also welcome.
