  • Young Vagrants Call for Entries 2015-2016

    Art Cinema OFFoff provides a unique platform for the displaying and research of experimental film. Any individual younger than 35 can submit one or several entries. The call for entries is open for:

    • Analogue or digital experimental film and video work
    • Any duration or genre is permitted. OFFoff welcomes fiction, animation, documentary,... as long as the work is of experimental nature. We look for works that are challenging or renewing in terms of form and content.
    • Participants have to be younger than 35 years old.

  • Delete TV Call for entries

    Delete TV investigates the captivating nature of images with the specific aim to look up to new approaches by taking distance from the conventional film making method. 
    The program opens a window to the world of art and offers strong, wild and uncensored works from upcoming artists and film-makers.
    Delete TV highlights contemporary issues in a global context, highly educational and deeply focused on intercultural exchange and visibility.

  • 27th Onion City Experimental Film and Video Festival

    Onion City is one of the premiere international festivals exclusively devoted to experimental film and video.

    Onion City was founded in the 1980s by the Experimental Film Coalition and run by them for many years. Chicago Filmmakers assumed responsibility for the festival in 2001, and expanded the size and opened it up to video work as well as film. It is generally 8-10 programs over four days and features roughly 60-70 works from around the world. Aside from the competition programs, there are occasional special presentations of new or old films of note or guest presentations. Screenings take place at Chicago Filmmakers and other venues around mid-June.

  • Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival 2016

    Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival is now accepting submissions of short films, features, installation proposals, curated programmes and film-performance proposals. Works made in 2015 or 2014 will stand a greater chance of success. Scottish premieres are preferred but not essential.

    Twisted Oyster Experimental Film Festival is a short film and video competition presented by the Zhou B Art Center’s New Media & Performance Arts Space. Curated by Pía Cruzalegui and Sergio Gomez. The focus of Twisted Oyster is to highlight independent and experimental film and video shorts that will engage diverse audiences on a range of aesthetic, socio-political, and/or conceptual levels.

  • CROSSROADS 2016 Call for entries

    San Francisco Cinematheque announces CROSSROADS 2016
    April 1–3 2016 at San Francisco’s Victoria Theater

    San Francisco Cinematheque seeks submissions of recent films and videos for CROSSROADS 2016, the seventh manifestation of our annual film festival to be held April 1–3, 2016 at San Francisco’s Victoria Theatre.

    CROSSROADS 2016 will showcase new film/video works by emerging and established filmmakers, including performance and works of “live cinema.” Cinematheque seeks submissions of compelling non-commercial, artist-made work of all genres and durations.

  • 24th annual $100 Film Festival

    The 24th annual $100 Film Festival (February 26-28, 2015) welcomes submissions of short films (under 22 minutes) that are finished to Super 8 or 16mm film. We are looking for new (finished after Dec 2013) innovative, thought provoking film from any genre that keeps the practice of celluloid filmmaking alive.

    The $100FF has also expanded to include offsite installation works.

  • Films of Self

    Looking for artists, filmmakers, and or creatives, who would be willing to join a gallery show called "Films of Self". It's a film installation dedicated to share self documented films about our personal lives. Films must be self filmed and edited. Your film will be screened inside of your own personal box. This box will be  9'W x 9'D x 8'H seating at least 4 viewers. I am looking for a total of 25 (or more) participants. That's a total 25 (or more) boxes.

  • Pantalla Fantasma 5 - Call for submissions

    You can now submit your works to Pantalla Fantasma 5 right now. The event will happen in January 2016 in Puerta (Bilbao, Basque Country) and other venues to be confirmed. Please check the entry form and rules,  and the manifest.

    Regulations:

    • Running time: minimum 40 minutes
    • File format: Digital file in DVD; or online (wetransfer, dropbox, copy, vimeo, youtube…); PF also likes other formats like VHS, Beta o super8.

  • Experiments in Cinema v11.4 Call for submissions

    Basement Films’ annual international film festival is proud to announce our call for submissions for Experiments in Cinema v11.4 (April 6-10, 2016).

    We are seeking new and old moving image art that will engage audiences with the magic and wonder that IS undependent cinema!  Submissions might be (but are not limited to) essay films, dance films, film poems, structural films, post-structural films, underground films, abstract films, experimental narratives, experimental documentaries, video installations, transgressive films, portrait films, political films… Challenge us and we will be happy (if your creative output requires fancy press packages, agents to be contacted, high rental fees, a world premiere, descriptions like “…think The Little Mermaid on steroids…,” or character development that can only be understood in terms of a traditional narrative arc,  you might do well to find a different festival to screen your film).

    Our call for submissions is open from August 1 – November 1, 2015 so don’t wait! See www.experimentsincinema.org for our online submissions form.
