Atash, Aisha, Teyh: Three Films by Parine Jaddo is a film program presented by ArteEast as part of their ongoing series Unpacking the ArteArchive. This retrospective celebrates the early and little-known films of Iraqi-Lebanese filmmaker Parine Jaddo, whose experimental works entangle truth and fiction to explore cultural dissonance, estrangement, resistance, and desire.
When Hiroyuki Oki (1964-2025) passed away suddenly late last year, Japan lost one of its most singular and tireless artist-filmmakers. His amorphous work, traversing documentary and fiction, frequently harnessed smaller, more intimate forms of cinema (8mm, 16mm, video, the home movie) for their unique potential. This program brings together four such ‘small’ works—short films in which a direct mode of filmmaking comes to express a sense of erotic desire and longing.
OFFoff presents a unique double bill dedicated to the work of American filmmakers and life partners Will Hindle and Michele ‘Shellie’ Fleming. On two consecutive evenings, we will screen seven 16mm films by Hindle and four 16mm films by Fleming. This marks the first time the work of these two pioneering filmmakers is presented together.
The Goethe-Institut London, together with Club des Femmes and in cooperation with the ICA, presents a selection of films directed by Elfi Mikesch. Best known for her work as a cinematographer with Rosa von Praunheim, Monika Treut, Friederike Pezold, Heinz Emigholz, Cynthia Beatt, and Teresa Villaverde, Mikesch has also developed a uniquely genre-blending body of work as a director, which has had a significant influence on feminist and queer cinema.
