Phantom Film Lab, an independent streaming and distribution platform dedicated to underground, hidden and independent cinema from Colombia and beyond, has opened a free international call for films.
We are looking for experimental films, as well as fiction and documentary work that lives outside the mainstream: shorts, medium-length and feature-length films. Works on the margins, hybrid forms, artist's cinema and films that rarely find a screen are especially welcome.
Queer Valley Screening Series is an artist-run screening series based in the Connecticut River Valley of Western Massachusetts, programmed by Michelle Trujillo and Stephen Wardell. We program underground, experimental, and avant-garde work by both local and international queer artists. We screen in both institutional venues like theaters and galleries, and in makeshift event spaces as wide-ranging as bodies of water, street-corners, and basements.
The Cosmic Rays Film Festival is now accepting submissions from August 24 - November 16, 2026.
Now in its ninth year, Cosmic Rays is an annual celebration of short films that expand our idea of what film is and what it can be.
The Festival presents several programs of experimental short films that are formally inventive; that explore hybrid forms and the hard-to-describe spaces between filmmaking modes and genres; that speak with a personal voice; and that are inspired by the possibilities of film as art.
Chicago Filmmakers is currently taking entries for the 37th Onion City Experimental Film Festival, which takes place April 8-11, 2027. The regular deadline is October 22 and the late deadline is November 19.
Onion City was founded in the 1980s by the Experimental Film Coalition.

It is an online exhibition, in its first edition, that seeks to present a cross-section of moving-image production that has an intrinsic relationship with the element of sound, sound understood as a materiality that is also an image, a sonic image.
Works in which sound is not a soundtrack, but rather the materiality that sustains and guides the eye and the gaze, unfolding into an imbricated relationship of sonic and visual image layers.
