We are seeking submissions of "kinesthetic" or, interactive media that invites audiences to kinesthetically engage and/or participate beyond a single-channel theater-viewing experience. This open call welcomes film, video, and/or performance works that prompt or engage the viewer kinesthetically—through spoken word, sound, song, gesture, or full-body movement.
We are particularly interested in works that break the fourth wall and dissolve the traditional boundaries between performer and audience. Whether through movement, participatory ritual, call-and-response, instruction, and/or other hybrid forms, this call prioritizes projects that demand something physical from the audience - that invites the viewer to engage in a physical dialogue with the screen and/or it's maker.
We invite participatory artists, performers, dancers, and filmmakers working at the intersections of text and body, performance and technology, experimental film and community practice, moving image and somatic expression. We also welcome projects beyond these definitive categories - experimental and/or alternative interpretations of the call.
Submissions should include a clear explanation of how the work engages audiences kinesthetically. Documentation of the work being 'performed' is welcome, although not required for consideration. We encourage submissions from emerging and established artists, older and newer projects. There is no finish or premiere requirement.
Selected works will be part of a curated program at the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday, November 12. Chosen artists will be paid for their work.
Deadline to submit September 1, 2025.
