The Marienbad Film Festival is an international film festival based in Czech Republic focusing on works of an experimental nature, marginal forms of cinema, contemporary moving image, and artistic & challenging films. The festival is dedicated to analog filmmaking on 16mm and 8mm, to film performances, videoart, videographic criticism and contemporary moving image.

The Marienbad Film Festival invites authors and authors' collectives to submit audiovisual works to two separate competitions.
1. International Competition for Films of an Experimental Nature:
→ the call is open to projects within the broader definition of experimental film from the Czech Republic and abroad
→ the runtime of the films must not exceed 60 minutes
→ the work can and must be able to be screened in a cinema
→ the production year must not be earlier than 2025

2. International competition of audiovisual essays and videographic criticism
→the competition is open to audiovisual essays from the Czech Republic and abroad that meet the definition of an audiovisual essay that develops a form of academic research or film criticism through film.
→ the call is opened also for the works of practice-based research that take a reflexive approach to audiovisual culture, technologies, and materiality
→ the aim of the section is to support videographic film studios and video essayists
→ the production year must not be earlier than 2024

Selected projects will be presented in the Forum Marienbad section, which aims to expand the awareness of peripheral forms of film and the contemporary moving image in the following subsections: Forum Marienbad: Main Competition, Forum Marienbad: Audiovisual Essays.
Entry fee 13 €.
The deadline for entries is 31th of March 2026.
