Four young people are trying to understand why their friend, a young woman, committed a suicide. A film made up of disconnected scenes weaving between past and present. The title of the film comes from a poem by Stuart Perkoff which tells that some young people felt (around 1960) that everything is against them, so much that even the trees in the parks and streets seemed to them like guns pointing at their very existence.

John Woodman works with landscape as an experimental film/video maker and photographer and has exhibited work internationally over a period of 38 years. The collection of films selected for this DVD focus on his early landscape work in 16mm and Super 8 film made between 1977 to 1982. Exploring time-space and light his work concerns ways in which, through landscape, visual transformation, change and transience are represented and perceived in film. Particular emphasis is given to the way in which through time, changes in light, weather and season affect our perception of space and place.

Unseen Cinema: Early American Avant-Garde Film 1893-1941 premieres a comprehensive 20-program retrospective of the pre-Maya Deren inspired avant-garde film movement in America. Over 160 films in newly preserved and restored 35mm and 16mm film prints survey the hitherto unknown accomplishments of pioneer filmmakers working in the United States and abroad during the formative period of American film. The series postulates an innovative and often controversial view of experimental cinema as a product of avant-garde artists, of Hollywood directors, and of amateur movie-makers working collectively and as individuals at all levels of film production during the last decade of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
