8th edition of DOBRA - Int'l Experimental Film Festival

In 2022, DOBRA - International Experimental Film Festival arrives at its 8th consecutive edition with hope, persistence, and courage, celebrating the return of in-person activities and with a diverse and instigating program. Between the 22nd and 24th of September, the DOBRA festival will present, at the MAM Cinematheque, a panorama of Brazilian and international experimental cinema production, with exhibitions in both analogue and digital formats, a book launch, and debates.

LaborBerlin presents Diffraktion #11

After a two-year break LaborBerlin is looking forward to presenting a new edition of DIFFRAKTION, highlighting works from the Artist Film Workshop (AFW) of Melbourne, Australia, as well as the newest works from LaborBerlin members.

From Melbourne, filmmaker Lucas Haynes will be present, as along with most of the filmmakers from the LaborBerlin program. Florian Wüst, film curator, will guide through the evening.

S8 Mostra de Cinema Periférico 2022

El (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico de A Coruña desveló gran parte de su programación, y se celebrará entre los próximos 27 de mayo y 5 de junio en sedes como la Domus, la Fundación Luis Seoane, la Sala Palexco o el Puerto de A Coruña.
En palabras del director, Ángel Rueda, "el festival trabaja desde el presente para el futuro y por eso presentamos una edición en la que trabajamos alrededor de los nuevos públicos con el objetivo de traer a la gente joven desde la pequeña pantalla a la grande, de pasar del individualismo a la experiencia colectiva de la sala de cine".

Due to their opposing characteristics, light and dark have been employed throughout the history of filmmaking to create shadow and visual effects. However, the visual characteristics of “black” often make us “blind” to it. From a re-exploration of the development of filmmaking techniques, there is ubiquitous use of black in film production and screening, from the effects of metallic silver grains to the evolution of formal film language and the arrangement of screening spaces.

Experiments in Cinema is an annual international festival celebrating current trends and history of international cinematic experimentation. Experiments in Cinema is a non-competitive festival produced by Basement Films and based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This year we celebrate our 17th festival and our 3rd virtual festival. We are thrilled to share the festival in full and free of charge to everyone in the international community in this virtual format, and we look forward to welcoming you all back to the meat space of the Guild Cinema in Albuquerque in 2023.
