Helga Fanderl: Constellations

Cinema Parenthèse and iMAL are very pleased to invite the german filmmaker Helga Fanderl to present a personally selected super 8 film program. As a student of both Peter Kubelka and Robert Breer, Fanderl has created her own specific working methods, attitudes, and cinematic expressions. For instance, it is crucial for her to confront and work in the present, to process the various pro-cinematic impressions directly in the camera (as a kind of live filming) without any form of post-production.

This screening complements his residency in the fourth edition of the BAICC Residencias Artísticas Internacionales de Creacion Cinematográfica, a collaboration between the (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico, Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and LIFT.

On Friday 8 and Saturday 9 October, Cavia will be all about the work of award-winning artist, experimental filmmaker, animator and holographer Eric Leiser. There will be two different screenings with lots of short films and a feature film on Saturday. He will also be present for a Q&A afterwards. In our foyer you'll be able to admire RELICS: an exhibition of analog reflection hologram sculptures, dioramas with projection, drawings and woodblock prints by Eric Leiser.

IndieCork Film Festival: Arran Tenzin Bradstock

IndieCork Film Festival 2021 will feature 4 new experimental short films by Arran Tenzin Bradstock in a Special Programme entitled ‘FRAMERATES & Other Works’. Arran, originally from Baile Bhúirne in Cork, Ireland, is a filmmaker and studying for a PhD in Music at UCC. This is the fifth time his work has appeared in IndieCork, and he has also shown work at other festivals such as Fastnet Film Festival, Kerry Film Festival, and Luminous Void Experimental Film Festival.

Microscope is very pleased to present an online evening of moving image works by New York-based artist Lana Lin, organized by Morrison Gong. The program includes a selection of seven short works by Lin — including a collaboration with H. Lan Thao Lam — made between 1992 and 2005 on both 16mm film and digital video.
