We are excited and honored to partner with the Secret Movie Club to present a special screening of Dziga Vertov’s montage/documentary/experimental masterpiece Man With A Movie Camera with live original score by Austin, Texas indie chamber group Montopolis.

One of the most influential documentaries ever made, the film recently placed 8th on the 2022 Sight and Sound Greatest films of all time poll. The live score by Montopolis has been called "stunning and transcendent" by the Austin Chronicle.

Los Angeles Filmforum and Mezzanine present Snow in Springtime: A Michael Snow Tribute in three films, including Wavelength

When Michael Snow passed away on January 5 at the age of 94, the world lost a tremendous artist, who worked with rigor and humor in film, music, photography, sculpture, and more.

His classic film Wavelength hasn’t played in Los Angeles for several years, so we are bringing it with two other short films, Standard Time (1967) and See You Later (1990) all screening on 16mm.

Como cineasta, su trabajo gira en torno a la animación y el collage, incorporando formatos y formas de hacer analógicas a películas que revisan temas como la identidad y el sentido de pertenencia a través de ejercicios plásticos sobre los sitios, los objetos y las texturas.

El reciclaje de imágenes cinematográficas es cosa casi tan antigua como el propio cine. Mientras que este reciclaje que ha servido de uso frecuente a una función utilitaria, documental o ideológica, también se le relaciona con la historia del cine de vanguardia, cuando menos desde los años treinta del siglo pasado. Por otra parte, así como ciertas películas de metraje encontrado y artistas vinculados a la práctica son relativamente conocidos, cabe decir también que mucho menos se sabe de la naturaleza y el origen de las imágenes reutilizadas.
