Hannes Schüpbach (*1965) is a Swiss artist whose cinematic oeuvre is deeply rooted in the essence of the medium of film. His soundless works on analogue 16 mm film inspire reflection on time and movement, duration and memory. The screening features «Instants» (2012) and «Essais» (2020) in a performative presentation that involves language, music, and a conversation. Hannes Schüpbach is joined by cellist Flurin Cuonz and Werner von Mutzenbecher, a pioneer of artist film.

IN SITU II is a series of events that presents unique audiovisual works and live sound performances by local artists with a passion for cinematographic material, audiovisual experimentation and sound art.

This month, we present two sessions of experimental cinema on the occasion of the publication of the book Expanded Nature: Ecologies of experimental cinema under the direction of Elio Della Noce and Lucas Murari at Light Cone Editions. The first brings together filmmakers who, while our era is marked by the scale of human actions on the rest of the living (the Anthropocene), engage in ecological practices that tend to shift the privilege attributed to humans .
