    Deadline: May 15, 2012

Surplus/Lack is an experimental film-video exhibition, curated by Peter Freund and Jaimie Baron

“The image as such is already a defense against its own beyond.”

We are seeking short experimental films and video art (under 15 min) that engage the inescapable impossibility of representation. We welcome works that explore loss, absence, surplus, and lack in the very nature of the image and its endeavor to capture the real, the ethical, the beautiful, the missing, the disappeared, the desired and so forth. Works may present or combine narrative and documentary elements, however should do so through an overarching experimental strategy.

Completion date for submitted work should be 2010 or later.
