    Abstracta - International Abstract Cinema Exhibition

    The Cultural Association ZAC and Link Campus University of Malta announces the International Abstract Cinema Exhibition (Abstracta) in Rome. The purpose of this exhibition is to offer an opportunity of meeting and exchange of experience to the authors of abstract cinema and a possibility for the public to see the works. ABSTRACTA is addressed to the authors, from all over the world.

    Regulations
    1. The Cultural Association ZAC and Link Campus University of Malta organizes in Rome the INTERNATIONAL ABSTRACT CINEMA EXHIBITION (ABSTRACTA).
    2. The participation does not require any cost of registration.
    3. Authors are responsible of the content of works.
    4. The event will be carried out in Rome in 2011. Place and dates will be communicated later.
    5. Audiovisual works are admitted to the exhibition as long as they are bstract. The works should preferably be contained within 10 minutes.
    6. Copy of the work, together with the application form, completed and signed, will have to reach Associazione ZAC - C.P. 11/273 UP Montesacro 00141 Roma, before June 30 2011.
    7. The works, despite the original format used, have to be sent in DVD Pal 2 copy. With the works, the author can send images drawn from films, for the publication. The submitted copies won’t be returned. Shipment expenses are on charge with the participant.
    8. A phase of selection of the works is previewed, at unquestionable judgment of the jury of selection. The jury will judge also on the abstract or not of the work.
    9. The Zac Association reserves the right to use the works for didactic, cultural projections and to distribution in digital channels, no profit, under expressed authorization of the holders of the rights.
    10. The organization of ABSTRACTA does not assume responsibility for eventual thefts or damages to the audiovisual works.
    11. The participation in the exhibition (ABSTRACTA) implies the integral acceptance of the present regulations.

    The Festival activity begins on October 15 with the publishing of the call for participation, and will end with the screening of all videos participant, scheduled for March, at headquarters of Foundation Universal Forum of Cultures, followed by the screening of 30 selected videos at CAM - Casoria Contemporary Art Museum, scheduled for April 2011.

    The Festival is made in partnership with CAM - Casoria Contemporary Art Museum.

    Deadline
    All the artworks must arrive before February 28, 2011.

    Rules
    The Festival is open to all international videoartists. Participation is free.

    Submissions
    Is possible to send required materials for participation (video, form, image) just in one way, online
    - Filling out the form, before midnight of February, 28 2011;
    - In the form, you must be indicate an URL -8http or ftp) for downloading the video (i.e.: http://www.mydomain.com/myvideo.mov) and the still-frame from video (i.e.: Http://www.mydomain.com/myimage.jpg);
    - Is possible to use a service for big files transfer. The video and the image must be effectively available at indicated URL within the deadline.
    Don't send us link to videos hosted on YouTube, Vimeo or similar websites! They don't match our rules! We need your original artwork.

  • Cameracartell - Call for works

    The international video collective Cameracartell is currently preparing  a film program and exhibition in Skopje, Macedonia, dealing with the relationship between urban space and the construction of identity.
    Cameracartell is interested in video works, media art and experimental Shorts that deal in diverse artistic forms with the following subject: layers of the city as an organic construction, a process, Identity and blind spots of our perception. How does urban space create identity?

    About:
    We are Cameracartell, an international Artist-group, which commits itself to artistic exchange and a work dialogue in the fields of video art and experimental film. Cameracartell regularly organizes and curates film screenings and exhibitions taking place between cinema, art space, and public space. Besides, Cameracartell acts between spaces and categories by producing independent art works.

    Submission procedure:

    Please send your DVD until 31st of January 2011 to:

    Please send us an email with two stills of your work, a cv and a short description of the video to: office@cameracartell.com

    No Video installations please, single channel works only,  videos will be presented as a single-channel projection. Works with languages other than English need to be subtitled.

    DVD-Formats: PAL-DVD or NTSC-DVD, no Blue Ray DVDs.

    Cameracartell will screen the videos in February 2011 and put the program together for March 2011. Cameracartell would like to keep those  works not been selected for the program, since the group is organizing film programs for various projects, and might find other occasions to show your work. Therefore, DVDs will not be sent back, if you wish otherwise, please enclose a sufficiently stamped return envelope with your full address and name on it.

    The Australian International Experimental Film Festival is calling for entries for its second annual event.

    Following on from the success of its 2010 festival A.I.E.F.F. is gearing up for another thrilling event for 2011 and we are now calling for submissions.

    We are looking forward to receiving exciting work, be it video, film, or expanded cinema, so if you have something you think we should see or know someone who may be interested in submitting we will be keen to receive it.

    The process to participate is simple and the online entry and regulations can be found on our website at the addresses below. Just follow the instructions in filling out the entry form, and those that are given once the form has been submitted about how to pay the small submission fee of AU$10.

  • Directors Lounge 2011

    Directors Lounge 2011The 7th Berlin International Directors Lounge, the festival for contemporary media and film, alongside the 61st Berlin International Film Festival, will take place from 10th to 20th of February, at the art house meinblau, Pfefferberg. Daily from 6pm till dawn. Again we will screen a huge selection of experimental films from all parts of the world, covering a wide range of artistic positions in the new media. Details will be revealed over time, stay tuned for a fine collection of cinematic tidbits.

    Now it´s your turn to submit your film for The 7th Berlin International Directors Lounge. We welcome single works, compilations, concepts, lectures, any kind of input but please understand that we may not consider submissions for the show in February after the 10th of January.
