For seven years in the 1960s, Dion McGregor, a gay American songwriter living in New York, was recorded by his roommate narrating his dreams in his sleep. Half a century later, these tapes, since made into cult albums, were brought to the attention of the filmmaking duo behind the 2012 documentary sensation Leviathan.

Undoing The Whole Thing, the kick-off event of The Futurism is Ours, is about breaking down and building back up again. Featuring short work by Barbara Hammer, Miatta Kawinzi, and Joey Carducci, the program reflects on the filmmakers’ experiences working within and against cinematic lineages through their exploration of selfhood, queerness, and alternative social realities.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Aldo Tambellini’s legendary Black TV, the multimedia pioneer presents a new installation realized by re-editing hundreds of hours of his experimental mixed-media works in a site-specific Electromedia environment. Born of a complex, stratified experience, in which the images became a further subject in the critical investigation of the American social and political reality, Black TV is a monumental operation of aesthetic synthesis of the Intermedia era.

En la pantalla el cuerpo danza, el cuerpo goza, desafía a veces los cánones de representación y nos invita a reflexionar sobre cuestiones de identidad y género. Esta edición del Aula Xcèntric propone un acercamiento a la historia del cine experimental a través de la fascinación de los y las cineastas de vanguardia por la figuración del cuerpo y por las posibilidades que ofrece la materia fílmica y el cine digital para representarlo.
Marking the launch of her long-awaited collected writings Telling Invents Told, (The Visible Press), artist and film-maker Lis Rhodes will be in conversation with MarÍa Palacios Cruz, the book’s editor and Deputy Director of LUX, following a screening of Dissonance and Disturbance and Running Light and readings from the book.
