To celebrate its 2021 rebranding, Irish Artists' Film Index (formerly the MExIndex) is hosting its first daylong symposium. The presenters will explore and contextualise aspects of Irish artists' moving images (IAMIs), providing a broad overview on how they interact with other visual art forms.
For three consecutive days in October 2021 Pushkin House is showcasing the best of recent Russian experimental cinema and artists' moving image, selected by the Moscow International Film Festival (MIEFF) and initially presented during one of its iterations since 2016. Each evening the curator of the festival Dmitry Frolov will present the programme, followed by a short conversation between him and a curator from Pushkin House. The showcase takes place on Wednesday 20 October, Thursday 21 October and Friday 22 October.

The XIV edition of Archivio Aperto with be held live and online, free and worldwide, on MyMovies platform. Archivio Aperto is the festival dedicated to the rediscovery of the experimental and amateur film heritage, run by Home Movies - Archivio Nazionale del Film di Famiglia of Bologna (Italy).

Burnt Experimental Film and Video Art is back for our 3rd edition with 12 programs streaming for two weeks each between September 30th, 2021 and March 31st, 2022.
Cinema Parenthèse and iMAL are very pleased to invite the german filmmaker Helga Fanderl to present a personally selected super 8 film program. As a student of both Peter Kubelka and Robert Breer, Fanderl has created her own specific working methods, attitudes, and cinematic expressions. For instance, it is crucial for her to confront and work in the present, to process the various pro-cinematic impressions directly in the camera (as a kind of live filming) without any form of post-production.
Join us at 2pm BST on Sat 23rd October for a special online edition of the Moving Image Salon with featured artist Michelle Williams Gamaker, who will share some of her recent films, followed by a conversation about her practice.
The 2021 edition of Courtisane Festival (October 20-24 Ghent. Belgium) will feature as its artists in focus Sandra Lahire, a central member of the feminist and experimental filmmaking community in London in the 1980s and 1990s; and Swedish documentarians C.W. Winter & Anders Edström.

Spanish filmmaker Bruno Delgado Ramo joins us on Thursday, October 7, 2021 to present a screening of his Super 8mm films. This screening complements his residency in the fourth edition of the BAICC Residencias Artísticas Internacionales de Creacion Cinematográfica, a collaboration between the (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico, Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and LIFT.
On Friday 8 and Saturday 9 October, Cavia will be all about the work of award-winning artist, experimental filmmaker, animator and holographer Eric Leiser. There will be two different screenings with lots of short films and a feature film on Saturday. He will also be present for a Q&A afterwards. In our foyer you'll be able to admire RELICS: an exhibition of analog reflection hologram sculptures, dioramas with projection, drawings and woodblock prints by Eric Leiser.
