Join us for a talk by artist-filmmaker Christopher J. Harris on July 26th @ 6pm! Journeying through his eclectic Black cinema influences (Edward Owens, Mike Henderson, Ulysses Jenkins, Betye Saar and more), Chris will explore his personal and evolving relationship to the aesthetics of the Black analogue image. The talk will be followed by a discussion with not/nowhere workers.

An evening of hand-processed/intervened analogue short films.

To mark the opening of its new Community Darkroom, Barking Community Cinema presents an evening of hand-processed and artist intervened analogue short films. Featuring works which explore the materiality of celluloid film, this curated programme showcases many of the practices we hope to offer to new darkroom members. From historic alternative “eco” processes, to works which have been physically buried in the earth, these films challenge conventional cinematic practices, and can literally be said to be “handmade”.

Ultra Dogme has partnered with independent curators Duru Aygüven (@duruayguven) and Hasan Doğuyel (@hasandoguyel) to put together Buried Memories & Tangled Roots, a two-part program which will take place on July 12 at 4pm @aynaligecit in Istanbul.
