    El (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico de A Coruña desveló gran parte de su programación, y se celebrará entre los próximos 27 de mayo y 5 de junio en sedes como la Domus, la Fundación Luis Seoane, la Sala Palexco o el Puerto de A Coruña.
    En palabras del director, Ángel Rueda, "el festival trabaja desde el presente para el futuro y por eso presentamos una edición en la que trabajamos alrededor de los nuevos públicos con el objetivo de traer a la gente joven desde la pequeña pantalla a la grande, de pasar del individualismo a la experiencia colectiva de la sala de cine".

  • Iranian Experimental Film, Part 1: The Artistic Radicals

    In the first of a two-part program on Iranian experimental cinema, guest programmer Somayeh Khakshoor presents rarely seen short works by pioneering filmmakers Manouchehr Tayyab, Khosrow Sinai, Farshad Fadaian, and Mohammad Reza Aslani (whose feature Chess of the Wind had a held-over run at The Cinematheque earlier this year). Although all these films, with the exception of Ars Poetica, were either commissioned or made within governmental institutions, their makers found creative ways not to compromise their radical artistic inclinations.

    Due to their opposing characteristics, light and dark have been employed throughout the history of filmmaking to create shadow and visual effects. However, the visual characteristics of “black” often make us “blind” to it. From a re-exploration of the development of filmmaking techniques, there is ubiquitous use of black in film production and screening, from the effects of metallic silver grains to the evolution of formal film language and the arrangement of screening spaces.
