  • Analogue Ensemble: Divisions of the Screen

    Nicky Hamlyn and Simon Payne present a programme of single-screen and expanded films and videos that explore colour field abstraction, grids, lines, shadows, holes and frames-within-frames that are often underpinned by repetitive, almost musical structuring. Payne's digital video works involve elementary transitions and alternating graphic forms that create spatial depths within the screen but also bounce back to affect the environment in which they're shown.

    FRACTO is an annual Experimental Film Encounter inviting artists and filmmakers to present works that explore today's perceptual landscape and interrogate its set of technological configurations. The second edition will be held at ACUD MACHT NEU Cinema & Studio in Berlin from the 24th to the 27th of May 2018, with four days of screenings, artist talks and workshops.

    Tiempo, estructura, patrones. Estos son algunos de los principios que guían la novena edición del (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico que, bajo el título Lux Algebra, invoca los elementos alquímicos cinematográficos que manipulan el tiempo y sus estructuras, y que definen una programación con la que se completa la trilogía dedicada a la creación cinematográfica que la Mostra ha ido desarrollando en estas pasadas ediciones, desde la luz con Los nuevos impresionistas (2016) a la materia que da soporte a las imágenes con Objetos y apariciones (2017), sobre los conceptos de apropiación el found footage.

    The 13th edition of the Montréal Underground Film Festival (MUFF) hits the screens over a four-day period from May 18 to 20, 2018. This year, the MUFF collective has selected the 68 finest and most innovative shorts from a record 750(!) submissions by local and international artists. Our 13th opening night party and program will take place at Bar Le Ritz (179 rue Jean-Talon West, Montréal) on May 18th at 7pm (screenings at 8pm), featuring two programs of films representative of the fest at large.

    Enrico Camporesi is a postdoctoral fellow at the Terra Foundation at the National Institute of Art History in Paris. He has designed and organized film / video programs and exhibitions in France and internationally. He is the author of Futures de l'obsolescence, an essay on the restoration of the artist's film (to be published in 2018 by Mimesis).
