The experimental in cinema is subversive and has no image but itself. Beyond being personal, artistic, home made, pure, avant-garde, poetic, absurd, underground or metaphoric, the experimental cinema is a game and a mastering of the image as it is. A clearance that refers the movie to its own form and free it from boundaries of the narration to offer a perceptive connection between the film and the public. Clandestine and still too rare on the theatres, those films look at the self matter of the cinema.

CosmiX explores the multitude of the experimental through the fifth edition of its festival revealing a program of this genre. It will take place from Wednesday September 30th to Saturday October 3rd 2026 at the movie theatre Saint-André des Arts and the cultural space La Gare XP in Paris, France. One evening will be dedicated to short films in competition, lightening contemporary movie makers, and CosmiX is launching a film open call to do the programmation of it.

The jury and the awards will be announced later.

All participant selected for the competition will be able to take their film on DCP format if they provide a hard drive on site.
All emergent film maker of 18+ can send its propositions, without geographical origin limitation or gender restrictions. The films have to not exceed 15 minutes length and should have been produced within the past five years. Only one apply per person is allowed. No AI.
Films with non french dialogues must have french subtitles.

The result notifications will be sent via email. Due to lack of person, we will not be able to give a personal review for your films.
The selected movies will have to be sent via file transfer (wetransfer, swisstransfer, etc) on July 31th 2026 at the latest. If the film is not in french, it will be asked to add french subtitles.
