    Chicago Filmmakers hosts VASTLAB's VLX4 Tour date in Chicago, April 15 at 7PM Central.

    Combining underground cinema and music scenes through inventive modes of exhibition and collaboration, Vast Lab redefines the contours of art spaces and experiences. A trip is always guaranteed.

    Featuring work by: Josh Weissbach, Ben Balcom, Hüseyin Mert Everdi, Brendamaris Rodriguez, Steven Woloshen, Tracy Miller-Robbins, John Muse, Qianwen Hu, and many more... including a live performance by Toby Kaufmann-Buhler.

  • Sapphire Goss: Analogue Uncanny Experimental Film Exhibition

    Analogue Uncanny is a solo exhibition by Sapphire Goss showing hybrids between experimental film, installation and sculpture. The chosen works are studies in light, time and materials using experimental photographic and moving image processes. They explore ways in which materials, objects and places seem to hold memories, using ephemera such as antique lenses, obsolete film formats, film developing byproducts and other techniques to create strange landscapes and forms.

  • Dominic Angerame: A Complete Retrospective, Program 4: It's a R(eel) A(nswer) P(rints)!

    This is the fourth and final screening of the complete retrospective of the work of Dominic Angerame. Since 1968 Angerame has produced more than 30 films on 16mm and several newer works in digital format. Some of these films have never had a public screening. Many of Angerame's films show San Francisco, the city he has lived and worked in since 1979, and its varying cityscape as it looks and changes over time. He has also created short comedies, short-form documentaries and many diary films.

In this programme, life and domestic rituals or gestation periods gradually give way to the exploration of sensuality and sexuality, the unconscious and desire, or delirium and trance.     This programme, curated by Andrea Franco, tries to capture the fascination for Astronomy and the Cosmos of a series of filmmakers who, since the origins of cinema, have explored the appearance and mysteries of the universe. The screen unfolds here like a night sky capable of revealing not only phenomena invisible to the naked eye, as shown in the films by Emily Richardson or Dominic Angerame, but also extravagant fantasies, the fruit of the artist's imagination, (Segundo de Chomón, Georges Melies…).
