The Film Gallery is pleased to host a discussion with Canadian artist Angela Henderson and experimental filmmaker Solomon Nagler, in connection with the current exhibition submerged in the waters… between the waters, between the waters.
Over the past decade, Angela Henderson and Solomon Nagler have explored the intersections of analog materiality across a range of media and installation practices. Their work addresses themes such as counter-memorialization, difficult histories, psychoanalytic theory, ecology, and site specificity. Through their interdisciplinary approach, they create immersive environments that invite critical reflection on memory, trauma, and the natural world. Henderson and Nagler's works have been exhibited in galleries across Germany, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and France.
The discussion will focus on the documentation of past installations and offer insights into how these two artists—whose processes and mediums are radically different—find common ground in collaborative installations. This presentation will explore how these seemingly disparate practices intersect and reflect their shared exploration of materiality, narrative, and spatial experience.
