exf f. – days of experimental film frankfurt is an annual festival dedicated to experimental and avant-garde film in all its diversity, both historical and contemporary.
Offering no competition, exf f. is defined by a non-hierarchical understanding of filmmaking and film culture, aiming in particular to showcase film practices that focus on analogue film (be it Super 8, 16mm, 35mm or 70mm).
This year’s edition of exf f. includes an artist showcase on Marcelle Thirache, a four-screening program dedicated to Gregory J.Markopoulos, the focus program „Alternative Film Archive Belgrade. An Overview from 1958 to the Present Day”, curated by Ivan Velisavljević, monographic presentations of Super 8 and 16mm works of both Thomas Feldmann and Jeannette Muñoz, opening night performances by Valentina Alvarado Matos and Elena Duque, as well as a closing night presentation of Paul Shartits’s classic works.
Many filmmakers will be present for introductions preceding and discussions following the programs.
