FUGUE STATE COMES TO CINCINNATI MARCH 19-21
PRESENTED BY PAR-PROJECTS, SWELL, AND WAVE POOL

(Cincinnati, Ohio) From March 19th - March 21st, FUGUE STATE brings radical cinema to Cincinnati thanks to SWELL, WAVE POOL, and PAR-Projects, who will be hosting multiple screenings and an art exhibition over the course of three days.

Fugue State, a project of Disassociative Productions, is a new traveling festival of experimental, radical, political, and avant-garde cinema with previous screenings held at the NY Film-Maker's Coop, Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Elastic Arts Foundation (Chicago), and Comfort Station (Chicago), the festival keeps expanding to new cities, now choosing Cincinnati for multiple nights of screenings. M Woods, multi-disciplinary artist and founder of the festival, created the platform as a direct attack at the gate-kept, corrupted, and cronyistic film festival circuit. Thanks to local colleagues Laura Herman and Mike Sweeney, the festival was introduced to Cincinnati's vital hubs for avant-garde art and cinema.

Showcasing work that transgresses formulaic cinema, Fugue State seeks to usurp institutions backed by blood money and corporate dollars, opposed to the not-for-profit industrial complex while offering a fully independent alternative.

Featuring the work of local artists including Laura Herman, Ann Lohmueller, and Grace K Schuler, multiple artists are expected to appear in person including visiting artists Michael A. Morris, Sonnie Wooden, and M. Woods.

They host regular programming and performances (see vents calendar), including live music, art salons, conversational lectures, spoken word, poetry circles, performance and other artistic events and happenings. In an age of isolation and despair, SWELL aims to be the space that holds and nurtures our better selves in search of a better world.
