Chris Kennedy is visiting Paris, and we are honored to welcome him to Etna for a special evening in his presence. An independent filmmaker, film programmer, and writer based in Toronto, he is the Executive Director of the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT). His experimental short films have screened at over 100 film festivals worldwide and have been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Canadian Film Institute, the Los Angeles Film Forum, the Nam June Paik Art Center, the Semana del Film Experimental de La Plata, and the Pacific Film Archive. His film “Watching the Detectives” won the Ken Burns Award for Best Film at the 2018 Ann Arbor Film Festival. He has presented the work of other filmmakers in Belgium, Egypt, Germany, the United States, and Canada. His work as an artist and programmer engages with the history of film as an art form, exploring the materiality of the medium in a contemporary context.
