(S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico celebrates its seventh edition in A Coruña from June 1 to 5. This time the festival will hold a special edition under the tilte of "New Impressionists", bringing together both emergent and veteran filmmakers whose work engages the experimentation with light and its pictorial qualities. Probing the limits of sensory perception and subjectivity, this group of filmmakers has signed some of the most visually stimulating works made in recent years. This is the case of Canadian filmmaker Stephen Broomer that will present a fine selection of his 16mm works. Films in which the colors and textures evoke the work of the original Impressionists, and in which the author uses fast sweeps, collisions and movements that challenge the eye, and make imagine the filmmaker operating the camera as if you ran a box light with the ways of action painting.

Since 1985, publisher Paris Expérimental has become a singular meeting point between experimental cinema and its history. With around fifty landmark publications and events, this publishing house has contributed in France to the knowledge and recognition of experimental film forms that have often been marginalised.

Avant-garde: Experimental Cinema of the 1920s and 30s
In the latter half of the 20th Century, Raymond Rohauer was one of the nation's foremost proponents of experimental cinema. Programming diverse films at the Coronet Theatre in Los Angeles, and making the films in his personal archive available for commercial distribution, he helped preserve and promote avant-garde cinema.

This two-DVD collection assembles some of the most influential and eclectic short films in the Rohauer Collection, including works by Man Ray, Hans Richter, Marcel Duchamp, Watson & Webber, Fernand Léger, Joris Ivens, Dimitri Kirsanoff, Jean Epstein, and Orson Welles.

The Seashell and the Clergyman boxset

Light Cone, in cooperation with publisher Paris Expérimental will release next September what promises to be the definitive edition of Germaine Dulac's The Seashell and the Clergyman (1927). The film, based on a script by Antonin Artaud, will be published in a boxset containing a DVD and a bilingual book in French and English with numerous extras:

- The film in its original silent version, restored by the Nederlands Filmmuseum in collaboration with Light Cone, plus three musical versions composed by Pascal Comelade, Thomas Köner and Iris ter Schiphorst.
- Two extras conceived by Nicolas Droin and Prosper Hillairet, with contributions from Artaud and Dulac experts: Tumulte aux Ursulines (Uproar in the Ursulines, 2008, 15 mins) and Surimpressions (Superimpositions, 2009, 33 mins).
- A new and revised edition (160 pages) of the seminal book Artaud-Dulac: La Coquille Et Le Clergyman Essai D'elucidation D'une Querelle Mythique by Alain and Odette Virmaux published by Paris Experimental (1999).
- Germaine Dulac's biography and filmography.
- An account of the restoration of the film: Catherine Cormon, director of restoration at the Nederlands Filmmuseum, retraces the history of the different versions of the film and of the restoration process.
