Emerging NYC-based artists are invited to submit to the Rubin Foundation's film and performance open call for our fourth season of Sight/Geist at The 8th Floor. Proposals with an experimental and/or pedagogical approach to our mission of art and social justice will be accepted through July 2 for fall-winter 2024-25 programming. It is free to submit and selected artists receive stipends.

Sight/Geist: new NYC screening series

The launch of Sight/Geist, the new screening series selected from an open call for NYC-based film/video artists, will occur over three thematic group screenings/discussions at The 8th Floor, 17 W 17th St NYC, free and open to all. Artists include: Simone Barros, Cassandra Celestin, Lananh Chu, Steven Cottingham, Sarah Friedland, Haisi Hu, Erin Johnson, Anne Sofie Noerskov, Georgica Pettus, Jolie Ruelle, Jess Shane & Katie Mathews, Ciaran Short, Lauryn Welch & Eloise Sherrid, and Yu Yan.

The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation is excited to announce "Sight/Geist," a new open call screening series at The 8th Floor. The Foundation is seeking ambitious film/video work from NYC-based artists who identify as emerging, in addition to those self-trained, newly graduated, and currently enrolled in undergraduate/graduate programs. "Sight/Geist" will highlight work that addresses the Foundation’s mission of art and social justice.
