Budva Cinema Art Festival is an artist-made, independent film and video festival located in Budva, Montenegro, in the Western Balkans. This year’s program presents both the local video art community and international artists. It brings together short and feature-length films made within the traditions of art cinema, expanded cinema, and video art. The festival seeks works in which cinema and video become forms of artistic expression and personal voice.
The first Budva Video Art Festival's theme is contemporary nomadism and a glimpse into a new reality. Films chosen for selection have in common a certain sense of wandering, artistic pilgrimage. Works showcased at the first edition are in search of a certain cinematic language and common ground in times of crises. An attempt to observe and describe the rapidly changing context we are placed in as artists and spectators.
