    Working at the intersections of prison abolition, labor movements, geography, and filmmaking, Brett Story joins us for a special evening organized by Ohio State student group Cinéseries. Celebrated by Guernica for how she combines “elegant cinematography and shrewd political analysis,” Story discusses her latest untitled documentary, which is currently in postproduction.

    Amy Halpern (1953 -2022) made over 40 films, most of them on 16mm.  Amy was born and raised in New York City and made her first films there; she came to Los Angeles in 1976 to attend UCLA Film School and lived here the rest of her life.

    Experimental film programmer and researcher of the 1960s Swedish avant-garde scene; Martin Grennberger, will introduce the relationship between Swedish experimental film and 1960s avant-garde music, which is unknown in Japan. Experimental films by legendary composer Jan Bark will also be screened for the first time in Japan. Accompanied by Kanuma-avant-garde =Tsukasa Takahashi (drums, percussion) and ambient x improv master = mora-tau (synth) from Utsunomiya.

    Cinema Parenthèse and iMAL present the program Gunvor Nelson - Collage Films. Nelson was born in 1931 in Stockholm, but grew up in the small town of Kristinehamn, Sweden. After studying art in Stockholm, she moved to San Francisco in 1953 where she studied and later taught art and film at San Francisco State University (1969–70) and the San Francisco Art Institute (1970–1992).
