YOSHIKO CHUMA
Our annual programme opens with Yoshiko Chuma’s film dance works!
Yoshiko Chuma is a dancer, choreographer and filmmaker. Having come to the USA from Japan in the 1970s, she became one of the leading figures in modern dance. In 1982, she founded the dance company The School of Hard Knocks in New York City. Between 1979 and 1983, she made seven 16 mm films in which she brought together her interests in dance and film.
