“A Ghost Haunts the Cinema—Queer Ghosts, Oracles, and Witches.”
The BLONDE COBRA—Festival for Queer and Experimental Cinema—is an annual festival held every December since 2019, with a special focus on queer perspectives and experimental forms of expression.
This year’s edition (December 4th-5th at Turistarama, Cologne) is dedicated to the queer avant-garde and its connections to ghosts, witches, the occult, tramps, and other social outsiders. The central question is how the past, present, and possible futures can engage in dialogue with one another—and what significance queer history holds for understanding our crisis-ridden present.
Queer Ancestors—a special focus is on the pioneers of queer experimental film: this year’s program includes, among other things, a selection of Super 8 films by Derek Jarman.
