On Friday 2 October, Esker Film Society will be showing four early films by the legendary and elusive Ernie Gehr. The films of Gehr are mesmerizing in their simplicity. He often employs one or two formal conceits and holds on them for a period of time, conveying abstraction through duration of repetition. Showings of Gehr's work are incredibly rare, so please don’t miss this opportunity. Many thanks to the Austrian Filmmuseum for making this happen.
Each film will be shown on 16mm and properly contextualised through an introduction. The event is free. Doors open at 20:00, films start at 20:30.
