In Garden of Earthly Delights, Stan Brakhage places leaves and plants on a strip of film and copies them to create a captivating rush of images. With the help of a homemade pinhole camera, Paolo Gioli approaches nature in Natura Obscura without a lens or stabilizing perspective in a way that is both direct and mysterious. In memory of the late director Renate Sami, When You See a Rose follows: "Enchanted by the voice of Cathy Berberian, with scraps of melodies and lines of poems in my head, in love with spring and the flowers of summer, I ran through streets and gardens, fields, forests and meadows (...)" (RS). In Lomme's Garden, Eva Claus observes a neighbor's garden over the different seasons. Summer by Nathaniel Dorsky looks at a summer in San Francisco with the director's characteristic calm and attention to light and color. Light, Noise, Smoke, and Light, Noise, Smoke by Tomonari Nishikawa was recorded during a summer festival in Japan and creates its own fascinating rhythm with the optical soundtrack of the film strip and images of fireworks.
